Before His UPPCS Interview, a Father Quietly Prepared His Son

A few minutes before a crucial UPPCS interview in Prayagraj, a father adjusted his son's coat, combed his hair and fed him sweets. The simple moment has resonated with thousands online.

A father’s last-minute preparation

Outside the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission headquarters in Prayagraj, candidates have been arriving for one of the most important moments of their careers.

But one small moment outside Saraswati Bhawan drew attention for a completely different reason.

A video shared on X shows an elderly father standing beside his son before the young man enters for his UPPCS interview. He first straightens his son's coat, then takes out a comb and gently fixes his hair.

He later feeds him sweets before the candidate touches his father's feet and takes his blessings.

The video, shared by X user Prahlad, was posted on October 5 and was subsequently reported by several media outlets.

More than getting ready for an interview

There is nothing dramatic about the scene.

The father is simply doing what parents have done for their children for generations: checking that they are properly dressed, making sure they are ready and giving them something sweet before an important moment.

But the setting makes the gesture particularly meaningful.

For the candidate, the interview is the result of years of preparation. For his father, watching him walk through those gates is likely a moment that carries its own memories of that journey.

The video does not tell us how the interview went or whether the candidate was eventually selected. What it does show is the support that accompanied him right up to the entrance.

The pressure behind a government job

The moment comes as interviews for the UPPCS 2025 recruitment are underway at the UPPSC headquarters in Prayagraj.

According to reports, 2,297 candidates who cleared the main examination have been called for interviews for 812 available posts. The interview process began on September 28 and is scheduled to continue until October 24.

For candidates who have spent years preparing for competitive examinations, reaching the interview stage itself represents a significant milestone.

Behind many of those candidates are families that have followed the journey closely, supported their preparation and waited for the result.

A few seconds that people recognised

The response to the video was less about the examination itself and more about the relationship visible in those few seconds.

People online saw something familiar: a parent still looking after a grown child before he steps into an important moment.

The son may have been dressed for a formal interview, but for those few minutes, he was still his father's child.

And perhaps that is why the video connected with so many people.

Success stories are usually told through ranks, selections and appointment letters. This one captured something that comes before all of that: the quiet support that helps someone reach the door in the first place.
